Seaworthy Washer/Dryer to be Unveiled at Miami Boat Show

New vented washer dryer combination designed specifically for the rigors of boating

(LOS ANGELES) – Thor Appliance Company, a leading supplier of unique compact appliances, announced today that it will unveil its new vented Thor RX Marine washer/dryer combination at the Miami International Boat Show held February 14-18 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. 

The first washer/dryer combination designed specifically for the harsh boating environment, the Thor RX Marine incorporates a marine-grade 110 volt AC motor, advanced drum suspension system, and a corrosion-resistant outer frame and housing.  “We’ve found through research that standard residential laundry machines don’t hold up at sea,” said Matt Lee, vice president of design.  “The new Thor RX Marine takes all the best attributes of our residential washer dryers and adds the features that enable it to withstand life on the water.”

Unlike condensing washer/dryers sold for residential use, the Thor RX Marine integrates a rugged 110 volt AC motor and an external venting system for fast drying in humid marine surroundings.  “Any humid environment at or below the waterline can be taxing on a washer/dryer’s circuit board and dry system,” said Lee.  “By incorporating a marine motor and direct through-hull venting, we eliminate costly circuit board failures while also speeding up drying times.” 

Popular among boaters due to onboard space constraints and a limited water supply, efficient washer/dryer combinations both wash and dry clothing in a single horizontal drum.  Measuring a compact 23 inches wide, 33 inches tall and 22 inches deep, the Thor RX marine can fit where traditional laundry appliances cannot.  Thor washer dryers can be installed under-counter in a galley, built into a closet, or even free-standing in an engine room.
